Beach Levelling Gorleston 2005

Great Yarmouth Borough Services Engineer Bernard Harris has been in consultation with the contractors who level the sand on Gorleston beach each year just before the start of the holiday season.
Instead of pushing all the excess sand into the sea as in previous years GYBS have agreed to level the sand towards the sea wall. The plan is to aid nature in building a better beach and thus protect the sea wall. Time will only tell if this will be successful but again the Council are listening to ideas from residents.
The excess sand from the northern end of the beach was pushed into the sea. This was done to stop too much sand blowing into the amenity areas i.e. paddling pool, boating pond and shops/car park.
